Photoboof Beta!
Remember that if you're currently running version 6 of Photoboof, you need to install the full version, not the upgrader.
Beta Notes:
Version 7.5096 (May 9, 2012):
- 7.509: fixed an issue on the data entry page where the text can become small.
- 7.509: fixed an issue with the classic summary cropping the pictures on some monitors.
- 7.508: added the ability to copy the most recent strips and pics to multiple directories (multiple thumbdrives, whatever). See notes in manual under "odds & ends"..
- 7.5052: added the ability to specify a separate layout for FTP uploading, and to shrink the layout before it gets uploaded. Deets here.
- 7.5052: added the ability to specify a separate layout for emails, and to shrink the layout before it gets uploaded. See Preferences -> Email, should be pretty straight forward.
- You can now let users retake pictures! After each picture is taken, the users can be asked whether they'd like to keep the picture or take another. Notes here.
- Added new greenscreen mode where it swaps the greenscreen graphics sequentially. This allows people to have the same greenscreen backgrounds for every session, or to cycle through a big pool of backgrounds graphics. See Preferences -> Greenscreen.
- Added the ability to import settings, which can be complete configuration files or any group of settings. In other words, you can make a file containing a few Photoboof settings, and easily import them. This makes updating booths in the field super easy. More notes here.
- Added the ability to have no countdown shown before each picture is taken. To do this, set "picture_delay_before" to 0 in configuration.ini.
- Touchscreen regions are now calculated based on the size of the ready graphic (ready.jpg) instead of the Viewer monitor.
- Photoboof can now send emails without having to specify an external SMTP server. This makes sending emails from Photoboof much easier and more robust, and should get rid of the issues people were having the internet at some venues blocking emailing.
- There's a new very powerful FTP uploading feature that lets you upload each picture and/or strip after its taken. If your booth is off-line it'll build an upload queue and keep trying to upload until it finds an internet connection. More notes here. And strip uploading is fixed as of version 7.503.
- New hotkeys for specifying the amount of prints for the current session: control-1 to print one strip, control-2 to print two strips, etc. Note that these are global shortcuts, meaning Photoboof doesn't need to be focused for these to work. So if there's 4 people in the booth and you want to print a strip for each of them, you can press control-4 at any time during their session to print 4 strips.
- Some improvements to the system to use a webcam for live preview with cameras that don't natively support live preview.
- Fixed a glitch on some systems when recording video wtih the Canon Rebel T3i.
- You can now optionally put fonts you use in your layouts in c:\photoboof7\layouts\fonts, which is nice for portability. In other words, fonts don't necessarily need to be installed in Windows to use them with Photoboof.
- For people who are showing the picture inside a frame, changed the picture frame graphic from picture_frame.jpg to picture_frame.png to allow for transparency.
- Big changes under the hood, let me know if you have any issues.
As always, let me know if any issues.
